ZY Optics Adds L-Mount to Extremely Bright 50mm F/0.95 Lens

ZY Optics announced the availability of one of its extremely bright Speedmaster lenses this morning for Leica L-mount. A revised formula offers slightly different specifications than other mount versions.

The Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm F/0.95 III for Leica L-mount is now the brightest lens for that mount. Its normal field-of-view and extremely bright aperture works to capture images in very dim lighting and with razor-thin depth-of-field that makes for completely smooth backgrounds.

This is a completely manual lens that requires focus and aperture to be manually set via two texture rings around a solid metal barrel. The front of the lens is compatible with 67mm screw-on filters. This allows the mounting of an ND-fitler to make it possible to use a very wide aperture even in bright light. Such a lens is highly valuable for capturing classic portraits.

ZY Optics simplified the design for L-mount by using a 9-blade aperture instead of 11. The result is a slightly less heavy lens weighing 675g. It uses a stepless aperture and offers an extreme 360° focus-throw for precision.
