Canon Powershot G3 X Samples

Here, the Canon Powershot G3 X is compared to the Canon Powershot G7 X
Canon Powershot G7 X which is a short-zoom model that uses the same 20 MP 1" CMOS sensor yet paired with a much brighter lens. All images below are 100% unmodified crops from their respective cameras. Both these digital cameras were set to aperture-priority mode with fixed ISO and custom white-balance. As usual, each of these cameras was calibrated to give the highest quality and most realistic results possible.

These crops help determine which ISO settings can be acceptably used on these cameras. As image noise increases, most cameras compensate with noise reduction which introduces softness. The point at which a print become unacceptably noisy is a matter of personal taste.

Results are extremely similar given these cameras probably share the same sensor. It appears that Canon has tuned-down noise-reduction slightly on the G3 X yet results should be almost equally usable with a small lead to the G7 X.
