ZY Optics Launches Telephoto Macro Lens

Just this morning, ZY Optics launched the longest Macro telephoto lens on the market. Adding to their Mitacon family of manual prime lenses, ZY Optics matched the decades old Nikkor AF 200mm F/4D IF-ED Micro that was only ever available for the Nikon F-mount.

The Mitakon 200mm F/4 Macro lens offers a 200mm focal-length with a minimal focus-distance of 48cm which gives is 1X magnification at a comfortable 25 cm working distance. This reduces changes of overshadowing a subject and even scaring it away! Its moderately bright F/4 maximum aperture is one of the largest possible for a 200mm lens with coverage up to Digital Medium-Format which has a 0.8X crop-factor.

Specifications for this 200mm F/4 1X Macro lens fall inline with expectations. The lens has a manual 9-blade iris that can stop down from F/4 to F/32. An internal focus mechanism can only be driven manually using a very wide focus-ring. While the front of the lens allows for the attachment of common 67mm filters, it cannot attach a hood. A modern touch is a tripod adapter that directly attaches like an Arca-Swiss type plate. The adapter connects to standard tripods and detaches when not required.

ZY Optics is producing their Mitakon 200mm F/4 Macro lens for 8 lens mounts! A large imaging circle allows this lens to support an extensive range mounts, from DSLRs and modern mirrorless platforms to two Medium-Format mounts. including the Hasselblad XCD mount which requires lens to have their own shutter. Even though this is a sizable lens at over 18cm in length and weighing 1.3kg, ZY Optics sells it already for $500 USD for any mount!
