Venus Makes Leica Mount Versions of 4 Lenses

Venus Optics just released 4 of their lenses for the Leica L-mount. These new lenses expand photographic possibilities of the Leica mirrorless platform by introducing specialized optics that are not offered by any other L-mount lenses

NOTE Two of these lenses only provide APS-C coverage which only makes them compatible with a handful of mirrorless cameras from Leica themselves since both Panasonic and Sigma only produce Full-Frame L-mount digital cameras.

The Laowa 4mm F/2.8 Fisheye captures a 210° viewing angle as a circular image completely within the APS-C imaging-circle. This allows the creation of complete spherical panorama in just 2 frames. The original version for Micro Four-Thirds created a barrel-type image with top and bottom clipped and so this new APS-C version is much more practical.

One of the expertise of Venus Optics is their optical design that produces zero distortion. The Laowa 9mm F/2.8 Zero-D renders an ultra-wide field-of-view of 113° on APS-C cameras with perfect rendition of straight lines. This makes it the widest rectilinear lens available for Leica APS-C mirrorless digital cameras.

The Laowa 24mm F/14 2X Macro-Probe is a high magnification lens with a fixed F/14 aperture which achieves 2X magnification on Full-Frame L-mount cameras. This is the second-highest magnification lens for the mount, right after the next lens introduced today.

Venus Optics offers the highest magnification lens on the market, something which only a few other manufacturers match. This is the Laowa 25m F/2.8 2.5-5X Ultra Macro. This full-frame macro lens is exclusively built for macro photography with a minimum magnification of 2.5X which can be extended to 5X.
