Nikon Announces Z 35mm F/1.4 Prime Lens

Nikon just expanded the Z lens lineup with a bright 35mm prime lens with Full-Frame coverage. This standard series lens joins the light-weight non-S series while still delivering on optics and build quality.
This new prime lens captures a 63° angle-of-view which gives a slightly wide perspective with a perspective that looks quite natural. This is one of the most popular focal-lengths around as it is highly versatile. It excels at many types of photography, including environmental or group portraits, urban and lifestyle. Having a maximum F/1.4 aperture gives it great control over-depth of field and makes night photography easier.
A minimum focus-distance of 27cm gives it a maximum magnification of 0.18X, typical for its focal-length and aperture combination. The front of the lens accepts 62m filters which reflects the compact size of its body. This is also a fairly lightweight lens for its brightness, coming in at 415g. The body of this lens is weatherproof, allowing its use in inclement weather. In addition to a wide focus-ring, there is also a customizable control-ring.
The Nikon Z 35mm F/1.4 is expected next month for $600 USD or $820 CAD. Both Adorama and B&H Photo are already accepting pre-orders.
