ZY Optics Releases 90mm Speedmaster

ZY Optics announced this morning the latest in their Speedmaster lineup of ultra-bright Full-Frame lenses. The new addition to the family is the Mitakon Speedmaster 90mm F/1.5. This fully manual lens features a 9-blade aperture to render smooth bokeh. With its short telephoto focal-length, this is an ideal portrait lens when using a Full-Frame camera. The completely mechanical aspect of this lens allow it be durably built for a comparatively low price. Dedicated rings for focus and aperture rings are required to operate the lens.

A superb combination of extremely sharp plane of focus with shallow depth-of-field really make for outstanding portraiture. With a minimal focus-distance of 1.1m, this lens affords a comfortable working distance and avoids casting shadows on subjects. Using a slightly less bright maximum aperture than some of their other Speedmaster lenses allowed ZY Optics to produce an optical formula that shows virtually no distortion.

This ultra-bright prime lens will be available shortly for Sony E, Nikon Z and Canon RF mounts. It weighs about 770g and measures 10cm long, which makes it relatively compact for such bright optics.
