Fujifilm Launches Premium Mirrorless Digital Camera

Fujifilm this morning updated their mid-size X-T series with a new mirrorless based on the same 26 MP X-Trans BSI-CMOS 4 sensor in their highly acclaimed X-T3 flagship.

The new Fujifilm X-T30 is premium mirrorless camera built around the latest Fujifilm sensor and fourth-generation processor. This compact and lightweight mirrorless packs an incredible amount of features and direct controls for a model that weighs just 383g! The 26 MP sensor in it delivers ultra-sharp images by omitting the low-pass filter found on most cameras yet managing to avoid moire issues thanks a a 6x6 pseudo-random color-filter-array pioneered by Fujifilm.

This 4th-generation X-Trans sensor paired with an equally new X-Processor 4 is capable of continuously capturing full-resolution images at an ultra-fast 20 FPS. This can be further boosted to 30 FPS when using a 1.25X crop. This sensor and processor combo captures Cinema 4K video at 30 FPS or 1080p Full-HD at up to 120 FPS.

The hybrid shutter of the X-T30 offers a shutter-speed range from 1/32000 to 900s, something unprecedented, plus Bulb exposures up to an hour. In electronic mode, the shutter is completely silent and allows black-out-free shooting. The revised sensor in this mirrorless features over 2 million Phase-Detect pixels which are used to create a 425-Area Phase-Detect AF system that can lock focus extremely quickly. New sensor development allows autofocus to operate down to -3 EV.

As part of the X-T series, the X-T30 provides direct controls for shutter-speed, EC, plus dual control-dials in additional to the aperture-ring present on most compatible Fujinon lenses. The body is fitted with a 2.4 megapixels 0.39" EVF with 0.62X magnification and a built-in Eye-Start Sensor. This is essentially a revised compact version of the X-T3 with two main features traded for size: the X-T30 is not weatherproof and does not feature dual memory-card slots as its larger sibling does.

The Fujifilm X-T30 is expected to ship next month for $900 USD or $1200 CAD.
