ZY Optics Launches First Third-Party Hasselblad XCD Lens

Today ZY Optics became the first third-party manufacturer of lenses for the Hasselblad XCD system. This is the second Medium-Format system they make lens for. The new Mitakon SpeedMaster 65mm F/1.4 XCD is a fast prime lens with a 0.8X crop-factor to cover the large sensor of Hasselblad Mirrorless Digital Cameras.

On a Medium-Format system, 65mm corresponds to a normal lens with a 46° angle-of-view. Similarly, the bright F/1.4 maximum aperture of this lens renders a more shallow depth-of-field, equivalent to an F/1.12 lens, making this the brightest lens available for a Medium Format system.

The Mitakon SpeedMaster 65mm F/1.4 XCD achieves a maximum magnification of 0.25X at 70cm from the focal plane. This lens has a 9-blade aperture and supports 72mm screw-on filters. Speaking of aperture, this one must be controlled manually using the mechanical aperture-ring. Focus is also exclusively manual.

This prime lens weighs in a hefty 1kg and measures 82mm in diameter and has a length of 96mm. An optic so bright for a large sensor must necessarily be heavy and this is inline with expectations for its specifications. This lens is available for $600 USD directly the the ZY Optics website.
