Canon Unveils 65X Optical Zoom Digital Camera

Just today, Canon launched a new flagship ultra-zoom digital camera with a powerful ultra-wide 65X optical zoom lens and state-of-the-art image stabilization effective to 5 stops.

The new Canon Powershot SX70 HS pairs a 20 megapixels High-Speed 1/2.3" CMOS sensor with a lens that covers an incredible 21-1365mm, making this one of the widest ultra-zoom lens fixed to a digital camera. As with many Canon ultra-zooms, this digital camera can focus right on the lens, to deliver high powered magnification. A Digic 8 processor allows the SX70 to capture full-resolution images at 10 FPS and record 4K Ultra-HD video at 30 FPS.

Although using a standard-size 1/2.3" sensor to manage such a long reach, the SX70 HS is a prosumer camera and offers plenty of controls, including a single control-dial and dual zoom rockets, plus a built-in 0.39" EVF with Eye-Start sensor. The EVF has 2.4 megapixels of resolution and display 100% coverage. Magnification is not specified yet a 0.39" is quite sizable for a fixed-lens camera. There is also a 3" rotating LCD with 920K pixels at the back of the camera.
