Nikon D7000 Summary
Nikon D7000 Assessment
The D7000 sits at the high-end of Nikon's cropped-sensor DSLR camera range. Given a 16 megapixels sensor capable of ISO 100 to 25600, 1080p HD video capture and 6 FPS continuous shooting, plus a 100% viewfinder, dual control-dials and a weather-sealed body, this is one of Nikon's most advanced cameras. While the aging D300S surpasses it in some areas, the D7000 exceeds it for nearly everything else.
The Nikon D7000 is truly an excellent camera which can produces top-notch images quickly. Its design is made easy to operate and comfortable. As always, it is not perfect and there is room for improvement but the great thing is that this digital camera rarely gets in the way. Using EC and WB controls, this camera can easily produce perfect results.
Competition at the top is thin but fierce. The excellent Pentax K-5
Pentax K-5 shares the same sensor and offers even more features including built-in stabilization, a dual-axis digital level, automatic horizon correction and a freezeproof constructions while lacking the D7000's more advanced autofocus system for both stills and video. The Canon EOS 7D
Canon EOS 7D offers a faster 8 FPS drive and more video features while lagging behind when it comes to video autofocus. The D7000 also fairs better against the 7D in terms of color and metering.
In the end, the Nikon D7000 is a great DSLR for all types of photography while certainly being a worthy upgrade from any cropped-sensor Nikon DSLR.
