Fujifilm X-Q2 Summary
Fuji X-Q2 Assessment
The Fuji XQ2 is their third small premium compact, succeeding the XQ1
Fujifilm XQ1 with an identical feature set except for the addition of a new Classic Chrome Film Simulation mode. These are small digital cameras, barely larger than a typical ultra-compact.
The Fuji XQ2 is quite conventional in design yet packs one of Fuji's unique 2/3" X-Trans CMOS II image sensor with built-in Phase-Detect autofocus.
Image-quality of the XQ2 matches most premium cameras with strong edge softness being the most limiting. Noise-levels are low with good retention of details, particularly since the zoom lens is quite sharp around the center. Metering is excellent and dynamic-range is good. White-balance is not perfect while not too far off either.
Those looking for a powerful and pocketable camera will greatly appreciate that the Fuji XQ2 offers speedy performance with good image-quality. Videographers will be disappointed at the lack of a video mode and 2 second lag as well as short battery-life, particularly when recording full 1080p HD video at 60 FPS like this camera is capable of.
