Fujifilm X100T Summary
Fuji X100T Assessment
The Fuji X100T is an extremely capable premium compact camera. It features a unique 16 MP X-Trans II CMOS sensor without anti-alias filter that delivers image-quality which competes with the best APS-C DSLRs on the market.
The sensor incorporates Phase-Detect AF for quick autofocus. The X100T remains fast and responsive and only slows down when light is low. Its external controls make it relatively efficient to operate but the interface has more than its share of oddities.
The hybrid viewfinder is very clever but it is the 2.4 MP EVF mode which is truly superb. It is very sharp and assists manual-focus in one of three ways. Precise focus is also helped in the OVF with the additional of a new and unique Digital Range-Finder mode which overlays a tiny portion of the EVF.
The Fuji X100T faces a healthy amount of competition. There are several fixed-lens camera with an APS-C or larger sensor, including other models without anti-alias filter. At its price, it also faces competition from mirrorless cameras, including Fuji's own X-series which look rather similar to the X100T.
Photographers who are comfortable with a fixed F/2 23mm lens would be highly pleased with the Fuji X100T. While the AF slows down in low-light, MF is quick and direct when needed. The all-in-one body and excellent quality of this camera is sure to make it last under capable hands.
