Fujifilm X100S Samples

Here, the Fuji Finepix X100S is compared to the Pentax K-5 IIs
Pentax K-5 IIs, the highest quality APS-C sensor DSLR to date. Both cameras have the same sensor size and resolution. Neither uses an anti-alias filter. The color-filter-array is a traditional Bayer one on the Pentax, while the Fuji uses the unique X-Trans 6x6 arrangement of colors. All images below are 100% unmodified crops from their respective cameras. Both cameras were set to aperture-priority mode with fixed ISO. As usual, the cameras were calibrated to give the highest quality and most realistic results possible.

These crops help determine which ISO settings can be acceptably used on these cameras. As image noise increases, most cameras compensate with noise reduction which introduces softness. The point at which a print become unacceptably noisy is a matter of personal taste.

The Fuji Finepix X100S produces a softer look which makes noise less visible and renders more dynamic-range in JPEG images. Neither shows perfect colors with reality falling somewhere in between. Final output quality is easily comparable.	ISO 51200
