Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS100 Samples

As the first large-sensor travel-zoom, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS100 has no direct competitor. Several larger ultra-zooms use a similar 20 megapixels 1" CMOS sensor, including the Canon Powershot G3 X
Canon Powershot G3 X used in the comparison below. The compromise lies in the size and brightness of the lens. While the ZS100 offers a 10X zoom in a compact body, the G3X packs a 25X zoom in a significantly larger body.

All images below are 100% crops from their respective camera taken at the highest image quality JPEG setting available. ISO, aperture and white-balance were set on camera. Other settings were left at their default values. These crops help determine which ISO settings is acceptable on these cameras. As noise increases, most cameras compensate with noise reduction which introduces softness. The point at which a print become unacceptably noisy is a matter of personal taste.
