Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF2 Samples

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF2 is compared to the Pentax K-5
Pentax K-5, currently the best cropped sensor camera. All images below are 100% unmodified crops from their respective cameras. Both cameras were set on aperture-priority mode with fixed ISO. The remaining settings were left on automatic. These crops help determine which ISO settings can be acceptably used on these cameras. As noise increases, most cameras compensate with noise reduction which introduces softness. The point at which a print become unacceptably noisy is a matter of personal taste.

Image quality of the GF2 is good and with little noise showing up to ISO 800. The K-5 which uses a larger sensor obviously performs better with a lead of about two stops. This puts the GF2 on par with the previous generation of DSLRs which is still very respectable. It is interesting to see that despite a softer lens, noise eventually evens things out.	ISO 12800
